English is the first language of approximately 350 million people worldwide. It is an official language in over 60 countries and is spoken as a second or foreign language by over a billion people, hence its status as a lingua franca. In many countries, English facilitates access to culture, business, scientific research and the job market.

New program beginning fall 2018: Major in English and Anglophone Culture

The main objective of the Major in English and Anglophone Culture is to enable students whose second language is English to deepen their knowledge of the language by providing them with the necessary tools to master the grammatical and communicational aspects of the language and develop their linguistic and cultural awareness of English. This 60-credit program focuses on the study of English and Anglophone culture through various multidisciplinary courses.

Do you get the feeling that your high school English lessons haven’t stood the test of time? Need to brush up on the basics before undertaking a program in English? Improve your English with ANG1017 Beginner’s English Skills and study basic grammar rules with ANG1117 Beginner’s English Grammar.

If you wish to apply for an English program, consult this page (and select the option that nest describes your situation).

To register for your courses, consult the university calendar for registration dates associated with your particular status (current student, newly admitted student, independent student). 

For any information regarding your student file (OPUS card attestation, online registration, registration periods, personal schedule and rooms, grades and results, bills and income tax), consult the student portal.

Modification and cancellation periods
First summer session (April 30 - June 19/20, 2018) :
To modify or cancel courses, with refund: April 16 to May 4, 2018
Course withdrawal, without refund, without receiving a grade: May 7 to 31, 2018

Second summer session (June 20/21 - August 13, 2018) :
Modification or cancellation of a course, with refund : June 20 to 29, 2018
Course withdrawal, without refund, without receiving a grade: June 30 to July 17, 2018 (for courses on Tuesday and Friday)
Course withdrawal, without refund, without receiving a grade: June 30 to July 23, 2018 (for courses on Monday and Thursday)
